Prem Ka Ang
Love
Hari ras mein maate phirain grih ban kaun bichaar.
The one within whom love manifests, O Daya, is not concerned about the self at all.
He remains constantly intoxicated by the divine Nectar; it does not matter whether he lives at home or in a forest.
Roy roy gaavat hansat 'Daya' atpati baat.
Indescribable is the state of a sadh absorbed in love.
in tears, sometimes he sings, sometimes he laughs. The world finds him strange.
Prem magan gadgad bachan pulaki rom sab ang,
Pulaki rahyo man roop mein 'Daya' na hvai chit bhang.
Immersed in love, one's words are overwhelmed with joy; every pore of the body is suffused with bliss.
One's mind is absorbed in the Divine, O Daya, where it remains undisturbed.
Kahun dharat pag parat kahun digamigaat sab denh,
Daya magan Hari roop mein din din adhik saneh.
Unaware of where his footsteps fall, how his body sways!
He remains absorbed in the Divine, O Daya; his love increases day by day.
Sundar Syaam saroop bin 'Daya' lahat nahin chain.
The pangs of love are extremely agonizing, day and night there is no respite;
without a glimpse of the beloved's beauteous form, O Daya, the mind does not find solace.
Birah bitha sun hun bikal darsan kaaran peev,
'Daya' daya ki lahar kar kyon talfaavo jeev.
In the pain of separation, I remain restless for a glimpse of the beloved;
send me a wave of your mercy, pleads Daya, why cause agony to my soul?
Janam janam ke beechhure Hari ab rahyo na jaay,
Kyon man kun dukh det hau birah tapaay tapaay.
For innumerable births I have been separated from you; now I cannot be without you, O Lord.
Why do you cause me such agony, tormenting me in the fire of separation?
Panth prem ko atpato koiyan jaanat beer,
Kai man jaanat aapno kai laagi jehin peer.
The path of love is strange indeed, no one is aware of it, O brother;
only my heart and the one who has experienced its pain know it.
Kaag udaavat thake kar nain nihaarat baat,
Prem sindh mein parayo man na niksan ko ghaat.
My hands are exhausted from shooing the crows away; my eyes have grown weary gazing at your path.
My mind is completely immersed in the ocean of love but your shore is not in sight.
Sovat jaagat ek pal naahin bisaraun tohin,
Karuna-saagar daya-nidhi Hari leejai sudhi mohin.
Whether awake or asleep, even for a moment, I do not forget you.
O ocean of love, fountainhead of mercy, Lord, take care of me.
Chit chitavan Hari roop bin mo man kachhu na suhaay,
Hari harakhit hamkun 'Daya' kab re milainge aay.
Beset with a longing to see the Lord, my mind does not relish anything else.
When will the Lord be pleased with me, asks Daya, oh, when will he come and meet me?
Re man tu niksat nahin hai tu bada kathor,
Sundar Syaam sarup bin kyon jeevat nis bhor.
O mind, you are so unyielding; you are merciless!
Without beholding the Lord's beautiful form, how do you live day and night?
